CRM celebrates Heart Week with a new ‘heartfelt’ charity partnership

We were delighted to announce last month that our new charity partnership for 2022 is to be with Tiny Tickers.

All at CRM agreed that Tiny Tickers was a very important charity to support. In the last few months of 2021, CRM accountant Beccy Blake’s son Charlie fell ill with a serious heart condition that was not diagnosed until he was 18 months old. Beccy and her family have been through a very difficult time with numerous hospital stays and ongoing treatment for Charlie.

Tiny Tickers works to improve the early detection and care of babies with serious heart conditions and we are delighted to be able to support this superb charity with our fundraising efforts this year. We are planning a number of events kicking off with a yummy Bake Sale on Thursday 10 February which falls in Heart Week (7-14 February).

CRM’s Beccy Blake explains: “Heart Week is the charity’s annual celebration of heart heroes where everyone comes together to help babies, their parents and the health professional who care for them. We thought it would be a great time to introduce Tiny Tickers to our clients and other local businesses. All CRM staff will be able to contribute their baking delights and this will be a great way to begin our year of vital fundraising for this great charity!”

Katie Lawson, Head of Fundraising & Comms at Tiny Tickers said: “We are absolutely delighted that CRM Oxford has chosen our tiny charity to benefit from their support. We know it’s a very personal cause and we’re so grateful that we have been able to support Beccy and her family on their CHD journey. As much of what is normal in our lives continues to change, our cause remains the same. With the support of CRM we will be able to continue doing all that we can to help babies with congenital heart defects, their families, and the health professionals who look after them.”

Other charity events on the CRM calendar in 2022 will include an Easter family fundraiser, a local fun run, our popular Race Night, a Christmas raffle and of course our tuck shop which raises funds throughout the year.

Did you know?… In the UK:

  • 6000 babies are born with a congenital heart defect every year, that’s one born every 2 hours
  • 1 in every 125 babies is born with a serious heart condition
  • 1000 newborns leave hospital every year with an undetected heart condition

Tiny Tickers funds equipment to improve detection, diagnosis and treatment. The charity is the only provider of hospital-based fetal cardiac screening training for sonographers to spot heart defects during routine pregnancy scans. They also provide vital support and advice to families with a diagnosis.

Please celebrate Heart Week with CRM on Thursday 10 February and enjoy a tasty Bake Sale treat and find out more about our wonderful new charity partner Tiny Tickers.
