Another successful charity partnership

When we announced our charity partnership with Daybreak Oxford in January 2020, little did we or the charity know what a turbulent time was ahead of us. As the pandemic hit hard and Daybreak’s Dementia Day Centres had to close, we were scratching our heads to fundraise without the ability to bring people together for larger events.

CRM decided to extend the partnership with this vital local charity into 2021 and despite not being together in the office as much, devised some creative fundraising ideas like our virtual John O’Groats to Land’s End challenge. We could finally get together for a popular Race Night at the end of the year and we are delighted to announce that the total raised for Daybreak Oxford in 2020/21 was £6583.

“We are delighted to have raised over £6,500 for Daybreak,” said CRM Managing Director, Tony Hobbs. “This was a great two-year charity partnership and the team is proud to enable the charity to continue its wonderful work supporting families living with Dementia around Oxford.”

In the last few months of 2021, CRM accountant Beccy Blake’s son Charlie fell ill with a serious heart condition that was not diagnosed until he was 18 months old. Beccy and her family have been through a very difficult time with numerous hospital stays and ongoing treatment for Charlie.

CRM asked Beccy if she would nominate a charity for us to support in 2022 and she chose Tiny Tickers. This is a charity that is working to improve the early detection and care of babies with serious heart conditions. We are delighted to be able to support this superb charity this year.

Did you know?… In the UK:

  • A baby is born with a congenital heart defect every 2 hours
  • 1 in every 125 babies is born with a serious heart condition
  • 3000 babies under one year old had heart surgery last year
  • 1000 newborns leave hospital every year with an undetected heart condition

Tiny Tickers trains sonographers to spot heart defects during routine pregnancy scans and supports families with a diagnosis, and the charity has ambitious plans to make things even better for heart babies in the future.

“At CRM, we always get wholeheartedly behind our nominated Charity of the Year and I’m sure 2022 will be no exception, especially as this charity has such an important link with our colleague Beccy,” said Tony Hobbs.
