A warm welcome to new trainee James Partlett

CRM is growing again! We are delighted to have taken on another new recruit in James Partlett last summer. James has now passed his probationary period and took his first step to becoming ACCA qualified with the first of many visits to college in January.

James left sixth form college and started a career with a family-run car sales business. He soon came to realise that he was more interested in the company’s accounts than selling cars, so applied for the Trainee Accountant role at CRM in 2022.

He said: “I’ve really enjoyed my first six months at CRM. The team is very welcoming and friendly. I wasn’t interested in racking up debt and struggling to find a job after university, plus I learn better by doing something, so this is the best way for me to get a great qualification and work at the same time.

“I liked maths and problem-solving at school so I’m enjoying getting stuck into some accounts and personal tax returns, under supervision, already and I’m looking forward to developing my skills further.”

As with all new trainees, James was appointed a mentor to guide him through his studies and work, but in a ‘two for the price of one’ deal, James has both Kat Kurgane and Kate Thomas to mentor him. “I sit between my mentors in the office which is great because there’s always someone to answer my questions – on the flip side, they watch my every move and I can’t get away with anything!” James added.

CRM Managing Director, Tony Hobbs said: “James is a great addition to our close-knit team. He fits in well at the office and is an enthusiastic learner, I’m sure he’ll do well at college with his ACCA course and bring that new knowledge back into the business.”

Outside of work, James’ obsession is Badminton, which he plays in Witney, near where he lives.

Welcome to CRM James, the team at CRM is excited to share your accountancy journey with you.
