The spirit of CRM Christmas giving

Like many, CRM’s 2020 charity partner, Daybreak Oxford, has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. With fundraising events postponed and public donations reduced, Daybreak also saw a reduction in their services.

Daybreak is a vital local charity that hasn’t been able to offer respite days for people living with dementia during the pandemic. Dementia is incurable but not untreatable and day club attendance is one of the few recommended treatments so Daybreak runs three day centres in Kidlington, Greater Leys and North Oxford.

At the centres, they help people with dementia to maintain their skills and abilities, provide enjoyment and companionship and give family carers a break from their care-giving responsibilities.  For some club members, their visit to a Daybreak centre might be the only time they leave their home each week. Daybreak also runs a Carers Support Group to offer support, advice and guidance.

From a fundraising perspective, it’s been frustrating for CRM, as we had to cancel most of our regular charity events this year, but we were able to raise over £320 for the Daybreak Emergency Appeal via our Donate Day in the summer and, thanks to our generous clients, we were also able to make the donations received before our Charity Race Night was postponed.

In December, we have a wonderful Christmas Hamper Raffle taking place which will raise almost £900 for Daybreak. The draw for the Hamper takes place on 17 December so hurry if you’d like a ticket for the raffle – contact Alison Weston at CRM on 01865 379272.
