We’re six months into our support for our 2022 charity partner Tiny Tickers and what a half year it’s been! We’re so delighted to announce that CRM has raised an amazing £4,777 so far for our chosen charity.
Our fundraising efforts began in earnest with a yummy Bake Sale during Heart Week (7-14 February), a fitting time to introduce Tiny Tickers to our clients and other local businesses. The bake sale raised £237 to start the ball rolling.
Our Family Fun Day in April was a sell-out with 65 children and their parents coming along to St John’s Church Hall in Kidlington for an afternoon of frantic fun and marvellous magic! Children got stuck into the magic show, lucky dip and sweet shop, whilst adults tucked into cakes and drinks and took part in a raffle for some extraordinary prizes. The fun day raised £1500 for Tiny Tickers.
To work off some of the calories gained in the first two fundraising events, some CRM team members took on the challenge of the Blenheim 7K Fun Run in May. Set in the stunning grounds of Blenheim Palace, the intrepid team of runners and non-runners were Kat, Tony, Jessica, Hannah, Beccy, Jess, Kate and Loren, plus Kat’s daughters who completed the one mile race. Through generous sponsorship, the team raised an amazing £710 for Tiny Tickers.
And to top off the half year of fundraising, CRM Director Jim Moore completed the gruelling Big Bike Ride, cycling 70 miles from Westminster to Islip and raising a tremendous £2,330 for our chosen charity along the way.
So that’s an amazing £4,777 raised for a wonderful charity from January to June 2022! We are looking forward to organising more exciting fundraising events in the second half of the year – including our ever-popular Race Night coming up in September.
Why Tiny Tickers?
In the last few months of 2021, CRM accountant Beccy Blake’s son Charlie fell ill with a serious heart condition that was not diagnosed until he was 18 months old. Beccy and her family have been through a very difficult time with numerous hospital stays and ongoing treatment for Charlie.
CRM asked Beccy if she would nominate a charity for us to support in 2022 and she chose Tiny Tickers, a small charity with a big task of improving the early detection and care of babies with serious heart conditions.
Beccy said: “I am so proud and pleased that my colleagues have got fully behind our fundraising efforts and raised an incredible amount for Tiny Tickers. We are a tight-knit team and it’s heart-warming to know that they support this charity that is so close to our family’s hearts.”
Did you know?… In the UK:
A baby is born with a congenital heart defect every 2 hours
1 in every 125 babies is born with a serious heart condition
3000 babies under one year old had heart surgery last year
1000 newborns leave hospital every year with an undetected heart condition
Tiny Tickers trains sonographers to spot heart defects during routine pregnancy scans and supports families with a diagnosis, and the charity has ambitious plans to make things even better for heart babies in the future.
